Being the first Architect in Perak who is also a Green Building Index (GBI) Facilitator, Ar. Shyuan Kuee has a lot of plans to make the state greener.
Several public and private projects are in the company’s pipeline to be designed as GBI buildings, many of which are targeting to be of Platinum grade – the highest grade possible in the country’s benchmark for sustainable buildings.
Why green buildings?
A Green building focuses on increasing the efficiency of resource use – energy, water, and materials – while reducing building impact on human health and the environment during the building’s lifecycle, through better siting, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal.
Ar. Shyuan’s strong advocate in sustainability has made her an ideal candidate to help making our built environment a green one. Her project featured in this photograph has adopted several green design concepts e.g. recycling rainwater, low E glass facade, LED lighting, maximum roof insulation layer available in the market etc.
We look forward to more of her projects applying similar approach, if not better, for the coming year.
